We study methods for spectral geometry processing, that is to say, generalizing Fourier analysis to manifold surfaces, and using it to define new tools for geometry processing. We studied Laplace-Beltrami eigenfunctions [IEEE SMI 2006]. They define an orthogonal function basis for functions defined over a surface. Therefore we could use them to define manifold harmonics and the associated transform, for mapping signals between the surface and the frequency space associated with the surface [Eurographics 2008].
