I am a Senior Researcher with Inria-Nancy Grand-Est, and a member of the LORIA lab. My main research topic is numerical geometry, that is to say creating new algorithms for acquiring, transforming and optimizing the representation of 3D shapes. I am especially interested in applications that concern numerical simulation, real-time rendering and scientific visualization. Some of my results (e.g., LSCM) are used in several commercial and open-source softwares (including Maya, Blender, 3DSMax, Gocad and our research platform Graphite).

I defended my Ph.D. thesis in 1999 (advised by Prof. Jean-Laurent Mallet), on computational topology. I received the Gilles Kahn / Académie des Sciences SPECIF award in 2000 (best French Ph.D. thesis in CS). Then I did a post-doc in Stanford (with Prof. André Journel and Prof. Khalid Aziz). I was hired by Inria in 2000 (in Prof. Jean-Claude Paul's team). In 2004, I created the ALICE project-team (it became an Inria project-team in 2006). I was program co-chair of ACM SPM in 2007 and 2008, and program co-chair of ACM/EG SGP in 2010. I am associate editor of IEEE TVCG and Graphical Models (Elsevier). My project GOODSHAPE, that aims at computing the optimal sampling of 3D objects, was awarded a grant from the European Research Council in 2008. I received the Lorraine regional young researcher award in 2010 and the Inria young researcher award in 2011.
